I developed a love of photography along with my love of science and medicine. Traveling to Africa as a medical student to work in a missionary hospital I saw the power of photography when my images had a tremendous impact on those that viewed them. I now practice as an Interventional Cardiologist at the University of Rochester Medical Center where I am the Assistant Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories and Associate Professor of Medicine. Photography is still a major part of both my personal life and professional life.
Photography allows me to see the world through artistic eyes and my approach to patient care is changed because of that. The scientist /technician aspect of my life is balance with the artist/photography side.
I have three permanent exhibits of my photography in the cardiac catheterization laboratories at Strong Memorial Hospital, on the 7th floor of Strong and at the Cardiac Rehabilitation facilities of Strong Health. Proceeds of the sales of my photographs at these sites benefit patient education funds. I have had a 3 showing of my photographs at the Birdhouse in Pittsford, NY in November 2005 and at the Image City Photography Gallery in Rochester, NY in July of 2006 and at the Association of the University Woman in Rochester, NY in May of 2007. I have won numerous awards at several prominent nature websites. My work has been published in several bird magazine and nature calendars. My art work has also been featured in the Rochester Medicine magazine and Physician Travel and Leisure magazine. I had the honor of winning an honorable mention award in the 2008 Nature's Best Photography
Windland Smith Rice International competition.
I hope you enjoy this website. All pictures are available for purchase. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
